5TH ANUAL LOGISTIC REPORT: INTERMODALITY AS A KEY IN COMPETITIVENESS

Last Wednesday, 29th July, Vasco Gallega Group submitted the Logistics Report 2009, “Intermodality as a Key in Competitiveness”, at the Galician Businessmen Con federation in Santiago de Compostela.
The survey shows a diachronic study of Logistics in Galicia for the last four years together with a syncrhonic analysis that presents the current situation of the sector in the middle of the economic crisis.
Among the main lines of the report, it is important to emphasize the surveys about the availability of industrial ground in Galicia, the capacities the transportation network has in the community and the development of intermodality as an investment in the future to achieve the logistics unity of the whole territory.
The conclusions of the Logistics Report 2009 show the importance of anticipating to the productive necessities in the development of infrastructures in Galicia. Besides, according to this study, the investment on industrial ground, the existence of a railway structure devoted to the transportation of goods and a necessary rationalization in the exploitation of ports and airports, are the most important initiatives that must be carried out in order to enable the development of the logistics sector in this community.
